PETRICHOR TO HIS HEART – PART 4They changed, he packed the papers and samples and locked them in the safe before hitting the bed. Always arranged and sophisticated or perhaps because he was alone in some important years of life, he learnt everything. No one to pick his pillow from the floor, no mother to cover him with the sheets, no one to ask if he ate or not…” her eyes welled thinking about his hardship as she observed him picking and putting the things he needed the next morning. With a soft flick the lights went out in the room and the darkness surrounded her, sometimes peaceful darkness and sometimes this darkness made her crawl back to memories not so bright. He didn’t want anyone to touch his stuff and the times she used to arrange his shelves, one thing or another was lost for him unless she presented it to him. She smiled at that.It was strange that she felt sad and happy at the same time and the reason was this man adjusting his pillow beside her. Just a few months ago if someone has said she was going to marry this strange species she was going to laugh at that. And here she could not think a day without him but it does not mean she ignored the fact how ruthless he could be and was it rude of her to question his tactics… she questioned herself as she turned her back to him.The wall clock was ticking, tick-tock, tick-tock and the dark night dawned on them, the night without moon… huge glass windows showed nothing just occasional fluttering of drapes whenever AC blades directed up.She could hear his soft breaths, he was not asleep but he was not restless like her. She was trying hard to hide the restlessness but she was sure her over sensitive husband has already sensed the bugs puzzling her brain.“We just had a small no-verbal but strong argument and how come he is not restless…” she asked herself pulling the sheet to her chin.“Perhaps he was not lying when he said he doesn’t care what others think about him,” she answered her own question. “he has had a lot and now it has crossed the threshold point of him caring about kinds of stuff about him,” she added another point to her observation and unknowingly she turned and rested on her back.“tumhe neend nahi aa rha?” he asked her softly. “aaj to itna sara kam kiya tum, aur thaka nahi tum…?”“pata nahi… shayd insan thak ke nahi sota, sukoon milne ke bad sota hai.” she answered him trying to make out him in the darkness.“ya shayd aaj apne beech distance jyada hai..” he was smiling and she knew it in his voice.“ek baat puchhu?” she focussed on the ceiling over her to start the topic.“hmmm.” he was tired but he was not able to sleep as well.“ab jab sab theek hai, Amma khush hai, Keerti khush hai, kya tumhe sukoon mila?” her voice was dim yet strong.he took a long breath, shifted again and then started.“dekho, jab hm log Sukoon ko ambitions se jod lete hain to ambitions poore hone ke bad satisfaction aata hai, sukoon nahi… aur kabhi kabhi sukoon hamara list me hota hi nahi,” he took a pause as if in pain.“ mere ko bas itna pata tha ki amma aur keerti ko safe rakhna hai aur amma mujhe hamesha galat na samjhe… Amma aaj bhi yaha nahi rahta kyunki amma apne baato ka pkka hai aur mujhe use force nahi karna.” he turned to her.“to agar amma mere sath hoke bhi pas nahi hai to mai kaise sukoon kar lu, par haan mujhe ye bat ka sukoon hai ki mai jab chahe Amma se bat kar sakta hai uske pas ja sakta hai.” his honest reply warmed her.“Amma believes you and she knows you care for them the most.” she tried to cheer him up.“i know.” he rested on his back again.Again a silence started shifting between their already distanced souls. For the first time in their relationship, they didn’t know what to say, should they just forget something strange was broached and sleep like nothing happened. But silences were always the best killers than the arguments.“kya hamare beech sukoon hai?” she asked suddenly.“pata nahi…” he replied and his voice announced they needed to talk about it before it took them with it. The easy rapport that they had been developing after their sudden marriage was about to crumble if they didn’t attempt to put their hearts into it.“i believe you didn’t force her …you cant even if you what” she spoke after a while.“but is it the only issue or there is something else bugging you?” he asked her.“it is some girl stuff and something normal for us… useless to talk about.” she blushed red.“then a guy needs to know least he is your husband… don’t you think he should know.” he scooted close.“it is nothing, Raghav,” she said and turned her back to him.“i know it is something..” he declared as he pulled her and pinned her under him.She had closed her eyes due to the proximity and when she opened her eyes, the lamp on his side was lit and his amused eyes were staring at her.“jaldi bolo… mere ko pata tha ki vo Ajali vala bat itna bada nahi, tum khud us par believe nahi karta…there is something else.” he shifted on his arm and kept staring at her.She gulped lightly and inhaled a huge amount of oxygen to help her feel relaxed. But this revelation was going to cost so much and so she looked away from him and muttered.“i just thought there were too many women in your life…” her voice faltered. “I suddenly realised it this morning.”His lips curled in that beautiful smile of his and his heart swelled… ‘she was getting insecure.” but now he wanted to tease her.“so… didn’t you hear almost every businessman, politician, or any big man you know have a series of such stories around them.” he cursed himself about switching on the lamp, it was hard to hide his smile with her being this close to him.But his words reacted to her feelings the way he had anticipated and she turned to him, her face ashen and eyes big in terror.“you are bluffing, aren’t you? Not every one of them are like that…”“but most of them are… vo kya kahte hain hindi me ghar ki murgi… daal barabar.” he knew what he was doing.“mujhe kya jo hote hain vo hua karen…” in an attempt to sound brave she spoke the words.“but change is good for health once in a while…” he entangled his finger in her hairs sprawled around her and acted innocent busy in her hairs.“tum…” she caught his act.“here I am sad thinking what and what not about you and my life in coming days and you are busy making fun of me…” she pushed him and he fell on his back.“turn off the light and I am not talking to you…” Vēḍā māṇūsa, tō kāhīhī karatō, tō kāhīhī mhaṇatō , Jēthē mī svata: Lā aḍakavilē..” she kept muttering to herself and he burst into laughter. (Crazy man, he does anything, speaks anything…how the hell did I get myself trapped with him? When his laughs seized he slid to her space and pulled her to his heart despite her opposing his advances.“achha sorry, itna gussa…poora sherni hai tum.” he smiled as he bounded her arms ready to hit him.She was helpless in his powerful arms and any attempt was futile but be it any situation he would manage to bring out the best teasing to her.“ab mera bat suno…” he silenced her against his body.“tum mujhe chhod rahe ho ya mai kuchh karun..” she told him furiously.“arey suno to…” he pressed her more to him and when she stopped wriggling he started.“past was past, I was angry I was frustrated and whenever someone came to me I got even more frustrated…”he was cut midway.“tumhra matlab koi ldki jab tumhare pas aayi?” she crossed him.“65 %, yes a girl.” he teased her again.“so yes, when they wanted my attention, I got angry and then it resulted in me being “not so good” to them,” he told her honestly. “but again I didn’t force anyone.today I am not the same man and you know that.”Now that she heard him she relaxed and she could smell his soap , faint smell of aftershave and a strong manly smell ,usually not good for her sanity.“okay.” she tried not to inhale the air which brought him inside her system but in his arms was there a way to avoid him?.“and by the way, when I found a girl who was not afraid of me, everything changed …I wanted her to shiver in front of me and she came out stronger every time.” he smiled and she looked up to him.“she was terrified but she didn’t like the idea of you enjoying her fear.” she crossed him.“i don’t enjoy the fear, Pallavi…” he defended his acts.“and right now I am very much enjoying this …what did you say which flavor?” he inhaled into her hairs audibly and sighed.“animal dung and rotten peaches..” she gave him the witty one and smiled on her triumph.“oh no…” he scrunched his nose in disbelief. “but the strawberry one was best” he turned and leaned on her.“ab butter chikan mile na mile , ghar ki daal is always the healthy and best choice,” he smirked as his fingers ran on her cheeks. She closed her eyes with the sensation firing her body she wanted to say something but his touches made her speechless.“and did I ever tell you, you got the prettiest eyes.” his whisper reached her ears followed by a kiss on her eyes.In a weak attempt to hold onto something she clutched his t-shirt and without opening her eyes she asked him.“can we turn off the lights”________________*______________Hey everyone, thank you so much for the love and the attention…I feel gratitude.Everyone who is here for them – you all are welcome here, I didn’t think I was going to get such a response, it has been my first work that reached the masses in such a small time…touchwood.A good ten days back I didn’t think I was going to write something on them, I had a small one shot in my mind but then this happened and …what else to say I am happy with the response.Keep showering them with love. And stay safe and healthyWith love Morusya.♥
